Vesna Manova-Erakovic
Pearson UWC of the Pacific, 1985-1987
Prof. Dr. Vesna Manova-Erakovic is a professor at the Institute of Mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje. Her path to UWC began in the village of Ularci, near Kochani, and continued through to her neighboring village Cheshinovo, where she finished her elementary education, as well as the "Georgi Dimitrov" high school in Skopje. After her potential was recognized in the mathematics class in "Georgi Dimitrov," Vesna became one of the first Macedonian students at UWC. As a representative of SFR Yugoslavia, Vesna went to the Lester B. Pearson UWC in Canada in the late 80s!
Although Vesna lives in the spirit of the UWC mission to this day, she decided to move back to Macedonia at the end of the UWC experience and represent the UWC values there. In 1991, Vesna graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in the field of theoretical math, which is where she has spent her entire academic career so far.
Aside from her expansive experience as a teacher, Vesna has published about 30 academic papers, and has been a reviewer in a number of academic journals in her field. Additionally, Vesna is the former President of the Union of Mathematicians in Macedonia (for two terms), which, aside from her engagement as a professor, best shows how she values the transfer of knowledge and the building of future young leaders.
