UWC Red Cross Nordic, 1997-1999

Another Macedonian UWC student from the past century :)

My UWC experience, like virtually all of them, was life-changing, especially since it happened before the Great Technological Revolution of the 2000s. Contact with people outside of the world's most beautiful fjord happened once a week, through a dial-up connection, so it was a little tougher to "escape" the "assimilating" influence of UWC ideals.

After UWC, my path took me far from the typical trajectory of going to a college in the US -- I came back to Macedonia, and since then, for 20 years, I've been trying to apply the UWC values in my own way and in some unusual places, such as in the Macedonian business sphere or the suburbs.

I studied English and linguistics at the national university, worked as a translator for educational and social topics, and then I found myself in another type of communication -- marketing communication. For the last 10 years, that's what I've been doing, starting with T-Mobile and later with Makedonski Telekom, as part of another international family -- that of Deutsche Telekom, similar to UWC in its diversity.

I've been Daren's mother for almost five years, I bike to work, I plant trees across Lisiche (as my own small contribution towards cleaner air!), I'm currently trying to teach myself Turkish, and, occasionally, I like to hike up mountains and practice yoga.
