Ilija Prachkovski
UWC Adriatic, 2008-2010
My name is Ilija Prachkovski and I was a student at the United World College of the Adriatic between 2008 and 2010. The experience at UWC was an adventure that opened many pathways in my life, created friendships that'll last a lifetime, enabled me to experience countless cultures and helped me learn things that I'll always be thankful for.
Because of UWC, I was able to live, learn and work ni seven countries, and be inspired to visit many others. After UWC, I double-majored in political science and international relations at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota in the US. While I was at Macalester College, I had the opportunity to improve my German with semesters abroad in Germany and Austria.
After my undergraduate studies in the US, I received my Master of Public Administration at the School of Public Policy at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, where I studied as a Matthew Nimetz Scholarship recipient. During my masters studies at the School, the success that I am proudest of is my consulting work for the International Crisis Group (ICG), in the course of my 18-month masters project. As part of this project, I spent three months in the South African Republic, where I received practical experience in analyzing crisis situations across the world from an expert analyst who led the ICG office in Johannesburg.
I now live and work in Belgium. I'm currently a project coordinator for a consulting firm in Brussels, and I'm responsible for coordinating a number of projects by, and in the name of, the European Commission.
In my free time, I love to travel, watch movies, and play a bunch of board games!
