Elizabeta Gorgoska
UWC Red Cross Nordic, 1998-2000
UWC was a bit of a dream come true; my first stop outside Macedonia, and a springboard towards a quality education and a proper intro to the diverse global village.
After UWC, I landed in the USA and spent four years as a Davis Scholar at Colby College in Maine. I continued to pursue a Master's degree at the Harvard School of Public Health in Massachusetts. Upon completion of my studies, I joined a boutique consulting firm and advised pharmaceutical companies on commercialization strategies for their products. Two years ago I joined Gilead, a biotech company proud to have the first approved drug for Covid-19, remdesivir.
I currently live in sunny California with my partner, Michalis, and two sons, Liam and Axel. With my crew, I enjoy travelling the world, exploring the local nature, and hanging out with friends.
At UWC I met wonderful people and stayed close friends with many to this day. Aside from the numerous get-togethers over the years, I've already returned to Norway twice, for the 10- and 20-year reunions. I'm crossing my fingers this tradition continues and maybe even my children become a part of the UWC family. Although many things have changed since my arrival in Flekke in 1998, I am glad to see that UWC's ideals still remain deeply rooted in many of us.
